The Gender and Disability Development Centre (GDDC) is the leading Kenyan Chapter Organization that assists Public and Private Institutions as well as institutions of Higher Education in research, baseline surveys, and the implementation of Gender and Disability Mainstreaming best practices and tenets in Africa.

In only two years, GDDC has addressed gender mainstreaming in public disability policy matters in Kenya through its quarterly and bi-annual training programmes. Over 150,000 Officers from Kenya's Government Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) have been trained on Mainstreaming Gender and Disability.

GDDC prides itself on having the best human and technical resources, versed in international best practices for conducting Baseline Surveys for both Gender and Disability Mainstreaming, Gender Mainstreaming in Disability Policies, Disability Audits, and much more. We specialize in Gender and Disability Mainstreaming of development projects, the implementation of tool kits in the workforce, and Gender Analysis of Development Planning, Constitutional Reform, Electoral, and Governance Processes across the region.

Mandate

The mandate of GDDC is to translate and implement both international and local constitutional imperatives, policy pronouncements, and legislation on Gender and Disability mainstreaming into measurable and meaningful programs across Africa.

By virtue of the gender perspective and drawing on the rights and freedoms set out in the International Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, the Millennium Development Goals, the Kenyan Constitution, and Vision 2030, GDDC provides high-quality, professional expertise and support to Governments, Public and Private Institutions, Higher Education Institutions, States, Non-Governmental Organizations, and Development Agencies.

GDDC seeks to facilitate the execution of executive responsibilities pertaining to Gender and Disability Mainstreaming, advocating for the rights of girls and children with disabilities, gender equality, and the gender and disability mainstreaming of higher education in Africa. This is done by integrating best practices in gender mainstreaming of disability policies, gender, disability, and children’s development to local governance and leadership in both private and public sectors.
